Civil litigation
Civil proceedings is a technical term that characterizes court work in the non-criminal field of legal proceedings. This includes pre-trial proceedings as well as court statements.
Including interim hearings and proceedings in port proceedings such as costs and enforcement of judgments. Civil litigation is just one of many parts of civil litigation.
However, while this may be a comfortable definition of "man from the Clapman omnibus," the distinction is legally necessary. Civil litigation is often distinguished from collective bargaining arbitration and criminal litigation.
The latter are professional attorneys who represent clients only in criminal cases such as criminal hearings, trials and appeals. However, civil disputes include judicial review, guardianship, and maritime law disputes.
The three most common types of civil lawsuits, but by no means the only ones, are family claims, tort claims, and breach of contract claims.
